History
h Leadership began as a concept known as Life Athlete. In 2000 Joe Heskett, founder of h Leadership, understood the impact and power that sport has on our society and its grasping ability to mold and transform the minds and mentalities of our youth. The term student-athlete seemed great in the world of academia, but narrow in the scope of an entire lifespan. Let us better understand the significance and empowerment that sport can provide for life success, thus the term Life Athlete. On March 26th 2009, Joe was encouraged by a close friend to take his Life Athlete concept and passion for leadership and life skill development and make an immediate impact on society. On March 27th, Joe made his first phone call.
In June 2009, Joe launched a Life Athlete group page on Facebook. In approximately 3 months the Life Athlete page had over 3,600 followers. Shortly after the Life Athlete Facebook launch the Life Athlete name was phased out due to a preexisting organization. Leadership and life skill development is the essential piece of sport that is often under emphasized. While the Life Athlete community was being formed diligent work was being done behind the scenes to build an infrastructure and assemble a team of the brightest minds in sport and business. Today, thanks to a team of outstanding advisors, visionaries and loyal supporters, a once upon a time Life Athlete concept evolved into h Leadership.
